The 23rd annual banquet of the Asian-American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts (AALAM) will be held Thursday, April 17, starting at 6 p.m., at the Boston Harbor Hotel. A networking cocktail hour will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner.

We are pleased that Martha Coakley, Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will be the evening's keynote speaker. Attorney General Coakley has had a varied and distinguished career in both the private and public sectors. Among other notable achievements, while an Assistant District Attorney in the Lowell District Court office, Coakley was appointed the Chief of the Child Abuse Prosecution Unit, during which time she investigated and prosecuted hundreds of cases of both physical and sexual abuse of children, including Commonwealth v. Louise Woodward. She is a former president of the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts, and has served on the Board of Directors at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

The Founders Award, awarded annually to a Massachusetts attorney who has made significant contributions in business, academics, or the community as it relates to the law, will be given.
