Making Partner at Large and Mid-Size Law Firms
For many associates, the brass ring of their career is making equity partner at the firm. If you were raised with a silver spoon in your mouth at the Yacht Club in Newport, or if your father is a director at Goldman Sachs, don’t bother coming to this seminar, you will make partner. For everyone else interested in becoming a partner, you should attend, so that you can learn: how to position yourself to be elected; how the selection process takes place; and the firm politics involved. We have a panel of Asian-American attorneys who have made it through the gauntlet to make equity partner at firms both mid-sized and large, including partners who are among the decision-makers at their respective firms. Our panelists include:
Light appetizers and beverages will be served. Please RSVP via this online form by Monday, March 24, 2014.

Speed Networking Event -- POSTPONED DUE TO SNOWSTORM
Join us for an evening of networking among attorneys of all levels. We invite all attorneys (junior, mid-level, and senior) to come share experiences, renew old acquaintances, and make new connections. For the formal portion of the session, we will divide the group by practice type (government, public interest, in-house, large firm, small firm and solo practice, etc.) to allow for efficient and relevant information sharing. But we will, of course, have ample opportunity for all attorneys to mix and mingle with each other over cocktails and food before and after the formal program. RSVP Now!
Immigration Rights and Voting Rights -- Hear from Margaret Fung, Executive Director of AALDEF
AALAM will welcome Margaret Fung, the Executive Director of the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), who will provide us with an update on issues that directly impact the Asian American community - including immigration rights and voting rights. Founded in 1974, AALDEF is a national organization that protects and promotes the civil rights of Asian Americans. By combining litigation, advocacy, education, and organizing, AALDEF works with Asian American communities across the country to secure human rights for all. This is sure to be a fascinating discussion on issues very important to all of us. This will also be a fundraiser for AALDEF.
